Description: The body of research based literature on growth mindset is important to consider in clinical education. A growth mindset culture allows clinical educators to support student’s progress while encouraging resilience and innovation. In the session, growth mindset will be explored in a way that is pertinent to our fields.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the differences between growth mindset and fixed mindset.
- Describe how growth mindset concepts enhance the clinical education of graduate clinicians.
- Discuss and implement growth mindset strategies into their daily precepting.
Jennifer Phelan is a lecturer and clinical preceptor at Northwestern University. Her clinical focus is pediatric audiology. Previous experience as a classroom educator is what brought Jennifer from the hospital back into an educational setting. In her current role, Jennifer is able to combine her clinical skills with educating future colleagues.
