Description:
AuD programs strive to provide their students with diverse clinical exposure across the scope of audiological services. High variability in clinical training experiences exists between individual AuD students secondary to site availability, patient population, case volume, access to equipment, assessment methods, and precepting style. The current Covid-19 pandemic has only made clinical training opportunities more limited.
Furthermore, unlike medical training programs, opportunities for postgraduate educational experiences in a controlled academic environment to develop advanced skills in a specialty area of Audiology are limited, at best.
To meet the demand for quality observation and training opportunities, the University of Miami (UM) Division of Audiology established several unique and innovative educational/career enhancement opportunities for learners ranging from high school students to established providers. This course will provide an overview of the expansive educational experiences offered at UM, discuss consideration factors pertaining to the implementation of educational services within a clinical practice, and provide examples on remote clinical education opportunities.
