Description: This session will provide attendees with updates regarding cochlear implant candidacy in 2021.  Additionally, this course will cover cochlear implant information applicable to all audiologists including programming, telehealth options, and other clinically relevant topics related to cochlear implants.  This session will provide valuable and relevant information to audiologists who do not specialize in cochlear implants as well as for those looking for the most up to date cochlear implant standards of care.


Maureen Wargo, AuD MBA, Audiology Supervisor, VA Healthcare System Pittsburgh

Maureen Wargo is the Audiology Supervisor for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and a University of Pittsburgh Field Instructor.  Dr. Wargo is responsible for coordinating cochlear implant activities at the Pittsburgh VA and is a past member of the VHA Cochlear Implant Advisory Board.  
She has been actively involved in the field of cochlear implants for 30 years and still loves every minute of it!

Lori Nixon, MA, Staff Audiologist, VA Healthcare System Pittsburgh

Lori Nixon completed her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh.  She is currently a staff audiologist and clinical preceptor at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, specializing in cochlear implants.
