1. Define the chain of infection and how it pertains to the hearing healthcare practice.
2. Outline the importance of infection control for patients and office personnel.
3. Distinguish between the infection control procedures of: Cleaning, disinfection and sterilization and know where each is applicable.
4. Create and implement strategies for day to day office operations.
5. Create an infection control plan.

Description:

An overview of the infection process with methods for dealing with infection inhibition and control. Topics include: the chain of infection, infection and disease, the immune system, common diseases encountered, safety procedures, sample protocols, and a review of a sample infection control plan template to be used in preparation of a custom infection control plan.

This course will meet the requirement for Audiologists who are alsohearing aid dispensers per the NYS Department of Education’s requirements:

"Audiologists who are also hearing aid dispensers will meet the Department of State's continuing education requirement when they meet the Education Department's continuing competency requirement. The Department of State (DOS) has agreed to accept an audiologist's reregistration with the State Education Department as proof of completion of his/her DOS continuing education requirement.
