Description: This presentation will aim to describe the technical capabilities of OTC/PSAPs and summarize the different models of integration of OTC/PSAPs in clinical practice. We will showcase both the electroacoustic and on-ear capabilities of some popular devices that are currently available, providing actual data gathered over the past few years on PSAP performance. We will provide an update on the current status of proposed laws and rules on OTC.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify methods and strategies to electro-acoustically test and verify which OTC/PSAP devices are best suited for certain hearing losses and which devices are not well suited.
  • Define current laws, rules and regulations in the ongoing and upcoming OTC legislation.
  • Identify the need to address the OTC/PSAP market in the coming years and implement a unique dispensing model within their practice to benefit both patients and providers.
