  1. Discuss the importance of parental engagement in the management of pediatric hearing loss.
  2. Review skills to promote parent involvement.
  3. Identify barriers that limit parent involvement and strategies to remove those barriers.

Description: Parental engagement is one of the most important predictors of a child’s early success and their overall development. This session will review the research on parent involvement, the impact that it has on children’s development, and factors that contribute to parental engagement. In addition, strategies that can be used to help improve parental involvement will be discussed, including motivational interviewing.
