Description:
Most adult cochlear implant (CI) users describe a reduction in their tinnitus severity when listening with the CI as opposed to when the device is off. For some, the perception of bothersome tinnitus remains when the CI is on. There are limited mapping procedures aimed to decrease/suppress bothersome tinnitus when listening with the CI. The present report assessed the effectiveness of an alternative mapping procedure on reducing/suppressing tinnitus for adults when listening with their CI.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Describe procedures to measures frequency region of bothersome tinnitus.
2. Discuss alternative mapping procedures aimed at decreasing tinnitus severity when listening with a cochlear implant.
3. Provide additional care to a challenging patient population.
