Join us for an engaging panel discussion featuring four distinguished audiologists, each representing a unique practice setting including the VA, private practice, a pediatric hospital, and an ENT office.

Moderated by Andrea Green, AuD, who has practiced audiology across multiple settings and currently works in industry, this session will explore the diverse career pathways available within the field of audiology. Our panelists will share their experiences, highlighting the advantages, challenges, and opportunities within private practice, hospitals, the VA, and within ENT. Our group of experts will also share how they pursued professional development, career advancement and leadership opportunities throughout their career, including how they successfully navigated change by pursuing roles in various practice settings. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a student doctor, this discussion will offer valuable insights to help you explore and discover the many possibilities within the rich field of audiology.


Learning Outcomes:  

By the end of the session, participants will be able to compare and contrast a variety of practice settings within audiology, including private practice, VA, pediatric hospital, and ENT; understand the advantages and challenges associated with different audiology career paths; and identify opportunities for career development and advancement within each practice setting, including potential specializations, leadership roles, research, and continuing education pathways.

Andrea Green, AuD

Andrea Green, Au.D., has been an Account Manager at Phonak since 2022. She received her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Green has clinical experience in diagnostics, amplification, and vestibular evaluation for both pediatric and adult populations. She has been active on many committees for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and currently serves as a Board Member for HEAR Nashville, a local nonprofit.

Melissa Caine, AuD

Melissa L. Caine, Au.D., is a clinical specialist and audiologist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  She received her B.A. in Communication Disorders and English Literature from Loyola College in Maryland in 2004 and her Au.D. from Salus University in 2008. Melissa currently provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services at CHOP.  In addition to her clinical position, Melissa is the department's lead audiologist for the Balance & Vestibular Program and coordinator of professional development/continuing education. Her areas of clinical interest include pediatric vestibular assessment, electrophysiologic assessment in the NICU population, and adolescent focused rehabilitation.

Mary Rose Goldstein, AuD

Dr. Goldstein is the lead audiologist at Center for Neurosciences. She earned her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Arizona in 2014 and her bachelors from Eastern Kentucky University in 2010. She worked primarily with adult hearing aid patients in private practice for several years prior to joining the Ear & Hearing department at Center for Neurosciences in 2017 where she provides the full array of audiologic services, including:  hearing aids, bone anchored devices, middle ear implants, and cochlear implants. Dr. Goldstein actively works on clinical research and has authored/co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. Since 2019, her research focus has been on utilizing aided speech testing to objectively validate hearing aid fittings and optimize patient outcomes. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Rachel Kansky, AuD

Rachel Kansky, Au. D., is a clinical audiologist, currently employed by the Miami VA Healthcare System. She obtained her doctorate in Audiology from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Kansky’s areas of practice are diverse, with special interest in vestibular diagnostics, vestibular rehabilitation therapy, and student experiences. Her other clinical applications include Whole Health, audiologic assessment, amplification, aural rehabilitation, and Clinical Video Telehealth. She is a Certificate Holder – Audiology Preceptor from the American Board of Audiology and serves as a student preceptor for 3rd and 4th year prospective doctoral students. Professionally, Dr. Kansky is a member of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), American Balance Society (ABS), and Association of VA Audiologists (AVAA). She serves on AAA’s Learning Labs/Grand Rounds Subcommittee and the Academic and Clinical Education Resources Committee. She also volunteers with the Audiology Clinical Education Network (ACEN).

Natalie Phillips, AuD

Dr. Natalie Phillips is a wife, mom, speaker, author, philanthropist, business owner, and connector.

She is passionate about building deep relationships and authentic connections to help make a difference in the world together.  She is committed to assisting individuals and businesses to become more of who they are and to live out their brand.  She believes in creating environments in which people can connect on different levels to help their businesses succeed.  She created and is Founder and CEO of Connect4Excellence, LLC, a company dedicated to guide individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses to connect to their own mission and culture, to connect to others at organized events, to connect to their own voice with a bigger audience on social media, and to connect to be able to give back and create social impact.

Dr. Phillips is owner of Audiology Center of Northern Colorado in Fort Collins, Colorado.  In addition to seeing patients and diagnosing and treating hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders of the ear, being involved in research and on clinical advisory boards, she has volunteered her time to travel overseas to India, Peru, Guyana, and Mexico as well as served in the United States as a Global Hearing Ambassador to deliver the gift of hearing by fitting hearing aids on people who are unable to afford the technology.
