Upon completion, each participant in the eAudiology Web seminar will be able to:

  1. Describe how professional ethics apply to precepting.
  2. Explain the extern selection process.
  3. Describe the important components of an Affiliation Agreement and student contract.
  4. Describe the building blocks for a healthy professional relationship and how to maintain professional boundaries with students.
  5. Define appropriate duties and assignments for students and preceptors.
  6. Describe the relationship between student and preceptor as it relates to billing and coding.
  7. Describe the ethical use of social and electronic media.
  8. Describe constructive strategies for handling difficult conversations
  9. Identify the parties and processes that should be involved to terminate a preceptor/student relationship or dissolve an affiliation agreement.
  10. Identify applicable laws that mandate confidentiality.
  11. Explain the legal and ethical consequences of noncompliance.

Description: Module 4 is one of four training modules on the pathway to earn the nationally recognized Certificate Holder–Audiology Preceptor (CH-AP) designation. All training modules provide ideas, tools and resources to effectively manage students in clinical placements, and validate the current state of an audiologist's skills, tasks and abilities as a preceptor through online assessments. The CH-AP program introduces a new level of consistency in the quality and constructiveness of clinical experiences.
