- Describe and discuss potential ethical issues facing the audiology profession.
- Describe potential ethical issues in over remote audiology care and licensing issues.
Description:
This one hour Featured Session will be presented by members and a former member of the Academy’s Ethical Practices Committee (EPC). They will review current ethical topics related to the audiology profession. Also included will be discussions of ethical situations and application of the Academy’s Code of Ethics to these hypothetical situations.
Audiologist, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Melissa Ferrello is a Senior Audiologist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her areas of clinical practice including cochlear implant evaluation and programming, fitting and management of hearing technology, and electrophysiologic testing. Melissa is currently the chair of the AAA Ethical Practices committee.

Dr. Victor Bray is an Associate Professor and former Dean of the Salus University Osborne College of Audiology. His 40 year career spans clinical care, clinical research, industry research & development, industry executive management, academia executive management, and professional service to AAA, ADA, ASHA, SHF, and NAP.

Clinical Faculty and Hearing Clinic Director, University of South Florida
Devon Weist, AuD is the Director of the Hearing Clinic at the University of South Florida. In addition to her clinic director responsibilities, she practices clinically, precepts students, coordinates offsite clinical practicums, and teaches within the AuD program at USF. Dr. Weist received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Clinical Doctorate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Her primary areas of interest include audiologic diagnostics, amplification, and counseling individuals with hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Weist is the past president (2018) of the Florida Academy of Audiology and currently serves as a member-at-large on the American Academy of Audiology Board. Prior to serving on the AAA Board, she served on the Ethical Practices Committee and is a member of the 2018 James Jerger Future Leaders of Audiology (JFLAC) class.
