Regulation of Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids (Part 1 of 2): Overview
Wednesday, November 10, 2021
1:00 to 2:00 pm ET
No CEUs will be offered for these sessions

In the first of a two-part series offered by the Academy, Catherine Palmer, PhD, past president of the Academy, and Susan Pilch, JD, senior director of government relations, will join members to provide an update on the over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid regulatory landscape.

The session will describe the impetus for the development of the OTC hearing aid regulations and summarize the provisions of the proposed rule released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2021.

The presenters will also update members on the actions underway by the Academy to respond to the proposed rule.

Part 2 in the series, to air in December as part of the regular discussion forums, will include analysis by subject matter experts involved in preparing the Academy’s response and also offer guidance to members.
