Description: TeleHealth is a current buzz-word in all realms of the patient healthcare community that is gaining traction as fast as the technology and legislation will allow. Because of an indirect relationship between the increased patient need and the decrease in provider workforce, expansion into hearing healthcare is no exception. Hearing loss is an epidemic, growing as the aged population increases over time. Currently, there is a shortage of hearing care providers to adequately meet the anticipated hearing loss needs of the senior group now and in the future. The hearing care community must recognize that modern methods of service delivery is an answer to the accessibility issue.
This presentation will review the current status of TeleHealth laws and rules, and, how this method of service is impacting healthcare today. Specific applications of TeleAudiology in the hearing healthcare industry will be identified and discussed in detail offering effective solutions to today’s challenges. Real life clinical outcomes and current TeleAudiology experiences will be provided in detail as well.
