Description: Audiologists are responsible for ensuring optimal amplification outcomes for their patients. Often the primary goal is to better hear and understand speech. Many factors can affect the output of the hearing aids as measured in the patient’s ear. For this reason, it is critical to verify at initial fitting whether the hearing aids can be programmed to rehabilitate the hearing loss and provide speech audibility. This course provides practical information to effectively use real-ear verification measures and improve patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify manufacturer, individual and earpiece effects on first fittings.
- Speak to how different prescriptive algorithms and fitting rationale may impact patient outcomes.
- Apply techniques for fitting and counseling into their clinical practice that will improve their patient outcomes.
