Description: This presentation will describe several real measurement (speech mapping) techniques and applications which will help the audiologist to manage the sound therapy devices for the tinnitus and sound sensitive patient. This objective measurement is necessary to assess amplification and sound generator settings for verification of the therapy progress.
1. Explain the procedure for taking real ear measurements of sound generators.
2. List three applications for using real ear measurements with tinnitus patients.
3. Identify the benefit of using real ear measurement for counseling purposes.

Dr. Bauman holds a Doctorate Degree from Columbia University and a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Wroclaw Ploytechnicl Institute. Before forming a private practices of Hearing Balance and Speech and New England Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center, he was Director of Hearing, Speech and Language Center at Yale New Haven Hospital and Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale School of Medicine. He currently has several practice settings and is Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Tinnitus Practitioners Association. Dr. Bauman is the inventor of the revolutionary (RITE) hearing aid. He holds numerous patents for hearing and tinnitus related devices and is a desired speaker on several topics pertaining to audiology both nationally and internationally. His extensive knowledge and experience is evident in the highly successful training courses he presents for the Tinnitus Practitioners Association.
