Description:  

Come find out about the newest evidence in selection, signal processing, features, verification, and outcome assessment in amplification. The research literature from 2020 focused on amplification will be reviewed with a focus on evidenced-based information that the clinician can put into practice on Monday morning. The presenters’ favorite papers from 2020 will be presented to provide you with exactly what you need know to provide up-to-date care for your patients.

Catherine V. Palmer, PhD

Director, University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Palmer is a Professor in the Departments of Communication Science and Disorders and Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh and serves as the Director of Audiology for the UPMC Integrated Health System which includes the UPMC Children's Hospital. Dr. Palmer conducts research in the areas of auditory learning post hearing aid fitting, the relationship between hearing, cognitive health and health outcomes, and matching technology to individual needs. She has published over 100 articles and book chapters in these topic areas as well as provided over 200 national and international presentations. Dr. Palmer teaches the graduate level amplification courses at the University of Pittsburgh and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Seminars in Hearing. Dr. Palmer currently serves as the Past-President of the American Academy of Audiology.

Ryan McCreery, PhD

Director of Research, Boys Town National Research Hospital

Ryan McCreery is the Director of Research and Director of the Audibility, Perception, and Cognition Laboratory at Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. As Director of Research, Ryan provides strategic leadership to the more than 30 laboratories in 6 centers of excellence in the Boys Town Research program. In his own laboratory, Ryan studies speech perception, language, and cognitive abilities in children with hearing loss with the goal of improving clinical interventions and outcomes for this population.

Gus Mueller, PhD 

Professor Vanderbilt University

Dr. H. Gustav Mueller holds faculty positions with Vanderbilt University, the University of Northern Colorado and Rush University. He is a consultant for WSAudiology and Contributing Editor for AudiologyOnline, where he has the monthly column “20Q With Gus.” Dr. Mueller is a Founder of the American Academy of Audiology and a Fellow of the American Speech and Hearing Association. He has co-authored over ten books on hearing aids and hearing aid fitting, including the recent three-volume Modern Hearing Aids series, and the clinical text on Speech Mapping and Probe Microphone Measures. Gus is the co-founder of the popular website www.earTunes.com, and resides on a tropic North Dakota island, just outside the city of Bismarck (http://www.gusmueller.net/fox-island-audiology-north-dakota-nd.htm).
