Angela Shoup, PhD

Angela Shoup, PhD, is the Executive Director of the Callier Center for Communication Disorders and a professor in the department of Speech, Language and Hearing, School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas.  She also has an appointment as clinical professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. 

Dr. Shoup has published articles and textbook chapters on audiologic procedures, implantable auditory devices, newborn hearing screening, ototoxic monitoring, and congenital cytomegalovirus.  She has participated in multiple clinical trials involving innovative treatment of hearing and balance and monitoring for ototoxicity in drug development.  She has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings. She served as president of the American Academy of Audiology, Texas Academy of Audiology, chair of the Ethical Practices Committee for the American Academy of Audiology, and chair of the American Academy of Audiology Foundation Board of Trustees. Among other professional activities, she is currently Chair of the Audiology Academy of the National Academies of Practice and a member of the NAP leadership council, chair of the Guidelines and Strategic Documents Committee for the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the National CMV Foundation.
